About

Erika in San Francisco

My name is Erika, I am a Computer Engineer and I love to cook.

Whether it is kneading some dough, peeking inside the oven to see my cake rising, chopping some vegetables, or stirring a pot of bubbling stew, I’d spend my life in the kitchen. I probably inherited some of this passion for food form my grandparents who run a pastry shop in Italy for as long as I can remember. My grandfather is the pastry chef.

I am Italian, I moved to the U.S. few years ago for work and after settling down in the Sunshine State (Florida), I left everything again to go live in the hipster, hyperbolic capital of Germany. I now call Berlin my home.

There are two things I enjoy as much as cooking: traveling and yoga. The problem is the first is expensive and I am not very good at the second one ;)

The History

The project of this blog started from the fact that the recipes I used were saved in a number of files, emails, bookmarks in my browser and even in different laptops. I was never able to find what I needed!

One day I decided that collecting my recipes in a blog would be the easiest way to organize them and always have them available, wherever I am. It was a bare bones thing, a private blog, nothing fancy.

But then, friends were asking for this or that recipe, a new interest for food photography came up and the number of recipes in my private blog grew considerably, so a decision was taken: the blog was going to become public.

This cooking blog was born, its ingredients follow:

Ingredients
  • 1 cup of passion for food (divided: cooking it and eating it)
  • 1 tsp of food photography
  • 1/2 cup of supportive friends
  • 3/4 cup of geek fiance husband
  • fun, as needed

Statement

I hope to surprise you with Italian and international recipes, to delight you with cakes, pasta, soups, bread and much more, and to guide you and inspire you with food photography.
Enjoy!

Special Thanks

A special THANK YOU to Max (Massimiliano Marcon) that worked hard to create this blog and continues to look after the technical aspects.
